Air Algerie plane grounded in French Metz airport owing to radioactive material on board
The civil aviation authorities of Metz airport, northeast of France, have grounded an Air Algerie aircraft for 5 days because of the presence of radioactive materials found in the luggage of a passenger who didn’t show up to retrieve his baggage.
French security services have launched an investigation, in coordination with their Algerian counterparts to determine the origin of the radioactive materials and the name of the owner and especially the way they came to Istanbul via Algiers by remaining on board the Air Algerie plane for a new Algiers-Metz rotation.
In another context, more than 100 passengers of Air Algerie Company were surprised not to find their luggage on the flight to London, a few days ago.
According to “Echorouk” sources, the missing luggage was misdirected on the Algiers-Lyon flight, and then returned late to London Airport where it was finally retrieved by their owners.
