Al Qaeda-linked arms smugglers arrested in Tunisia on their way to Algeria
During a raid against arms smugglers, the Tunisian army attacked vehicles believed to be transporting loads of weapons from Libya to Algeria.
- Fighter jets fired on the targeted convoy during a routine patrol of the Tunisian desert of Tataouine.
- Tents for training terrorist elements were also discovered in the area, according to army reports.
- Those arrested are said to belong to “al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb” terror group (Aqim).
