The relevant services of the trade ministerial department have decided to close down a total of 1,700 shops over glaring breaches of the trading laws and regulations in force since the start of the holy month of fasting of Ramadhan.

The offenders were found guilty of blatant negligence in terms of hygiene and shadowy practices notably concerning the poor quality of the commodities on display as well as prices not tallying with the norms and regulations set by the trade ministerial department.

Trade Ministry sources told Echorouk that roving anti-fraud agents carried out 120 thousand unexpected inspection missions by recording 27 thousand business-related offenses by venal shop owners who are also likely to face heavy financial fines in line with the relevant legislation.

Various loads of foodstuffs and other commodities amounting to over 36 billion centimes (DA) were also seized during the latest high-impact control operations conducted in various parts of the country.
