Algeria : About 300 GSPC terrorists still active in Boumerdes province with 11 potential suicide bombers
According to security sources, around 300 GSPC terrorists are stiil infesting the province of Boumerdes, 50 km east of Algiers. The province, said the same sources, counts the largest number of terrorists still active across the national territory.
11 potential suicide bombers are believed to be among them ready to wreak havoc, the same sources added.
Most of these terrorists decided to join last year the so-called Al Qaeda organization in the islamic Maghreb under the command of ring leader Droukel. They are mostly operating in the Boumerdes-Bouira-Tizi Ouzou axis.
According to testimonies made to security forces by repentants and arrested terrorists, a host of the Al Qaeda-affiliated GSPC terrorists, aged between 21 and 25, have been hoodwinked into joining the terror groupings, often against their will.
Most of these terrorists have been identified by the security services and put on the wanted list.
The testimonies also revealed that these terrorists are at loggerheads over the overall strategy to adopt as well as over the “advisability” of the series of bloody suicide bombings which sowed mayhem in the capital Algiers and other towns and cities of Algiers.
Some of them argued that such indiscrimate terror attacks were reminiscent of the horrendous methods used in the past by the sinister GIA terrorist group.
