Algeria : Abu Djerra dominates MSP party

The Consultation Council of the Islamic MSP party Saturday elected by plebiscite the party's leader Abu Djerra Soltani while his opponents had preferred to totally withdraw from the elections game.Abu Djerra Soltani dominated all big leading institutions in the party putting an end to a long conflict with his opponents including founder members.The sides in conflicts difficulty agreed on commitment from Abu Djerra’s team to cede the prerogative of electing the new Consultation Council’s president.  For his part, Abu Djerra Soltani said he was democratic even if he described the atmosphere at the MSP’s congress as anarchical democracy.

He considered the withdrawal of his main opponent Abdelmadjid Menasra as a concession not a defeat.

 “One hour after the closure of the party’s congress proceedings, democracy was the master of the situation. MSP’s leaders and delegates in the congress confirmed once again that they are the party’s decision makers,” Soltani told Echorouk.

He added that he will devote himself to serve and defend the party.

The State Minister did not give a clear answer whether he would keep holding this position or leave it. “It is truism,” he said.

 The elected leader said the party’s congress was organized in “total transparency” without any “external influences” on the definitive decision making.He stressed the necessity of facing the challenge of representing the Islamic trend in Algeria.
