Algeria “dangerous” for Switzerland since 1998

Algeria “dangerous” for Switzerland since 1998
Swiss flag.

Swiss federal authorities’ official document revealed that the state of Switzerland is still classifying Algeria within the list of “dangerous” countries, and under that preventing them from combat and military trainings, according to the federal council’s decision in 1998 concerning owning weapons.

  • An Algerian citizen revealed to Echorouk that he is residing legally and working in a guard company, and when he was to start his combat trainings, all guards’ files have been accepted but his file.
  •
  • Document obtained by Echorouk concerning an order by Swiss federal council, which is the highest body in government, on 21 September 1998, mentioned how to organize owning and using arms, even for training purpose, but the ninth article spoke about preventing its use by certain eight countries’ citizens which are, Yugoslav Federal Republic, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Macedonia, Turkey, Sri Lanka, Algeria and Albania.
  •
  • This order as referred in the document, has been ratified in 1998 i.e. ten years ago, when Algeria was classified as” dangerous place”, and European countries warned their citizens from traveling to it only in need.
  •
  •  This classification still present in 2008 after all Algeria has done to fight “ terrorism” on behalf of everyone, it is not acceptable, and it is an overrun that needs talk, especially when it comes from a so called “ neutral and peaceful” country .
  •
  • Why does Algeria remain the only Arab and African country within that list? It means that the Swiss classification was selective.
