Algeria bans second trimester exams for Baccalureate pupils
Algerian education ministry decided to schedule Saturdays or Tuesday afternoons for catch up seances following a recent four-week strike. Candidates for the Baccalaureate exams may take second trimester exams during the first week of Spring holidays. The ministry may also ban the exams and use classes evaluation.
A circular released by the ministry said the strike had a negative impact on school programs. Because of that, missed classes will be caught up in accordance to a plan adequate to each school and class.
The ministry stressed the necessity of not tiring pupils, avoiding courses accumulation and being reasonable in giving courses.
The ministry also allowed teaching councils to be free in dealing with the second trimester exams for the Baccalaureate candidates.
The mock Baccalaureate exams will be held in May while pupils will have time for revision. Questions will not be out of scheduled courses.
The ministry asked high school headmasters to allow the Baccalaureate candidates to enter schools after 5 pm to revise their lessons.
