Algeria cannot expel Mali refugees, FM Mourad Medelci says
Algeria cannot expel Mali refugees who need humanitarian aid, Foreign Minister Mourad Medelci said here on Saturday.
“As long as the situation remains the same in Mali, we cannot exclude Malian refugees who came to Algeria”, Medelci added, on the sidelines of the opening of the spring session of the national people’s assembly.
Head of the Algerian diplomacy expresses hope to find a solution to the conflict in Mali, in order to enable Malian refugees to join their country.
“We hope this situation will not continue in order to enable refugees to join soon their country, which demands more and more its unity and works for the embodiment of the national unity”, Medelci asserted.
Medelci renewed recently Algeria’s readiness to mediate in northern Mali conflict, saying; “We put our ability to mediate at the disposal of our Malian brothers and hope the various parties of the conflict will sit at the same table to resolve their problems while respecting the territorial integrity of the country”.
Algeria received at least 120 families in Timaouine, Bourdj Badji Mokhtar and Tinezouatine (south of Algeria), who fled from Mali conflict.
