Algeria Committed to Counter Attempts of Destabilizing Libya, Ould Kablia

Minister of Interior, Daho Ould Kablia, said Monday in Tripoli, that Algeria is committed to counter any attempts targeting to affect the stability and the revolutionary achievements in the brotherly Libya.

At the end of his meeting with Head of Libya’s National Transitional Council, Mustapha Abdul Jalil, Mr Ould Kablia was quoted by the APS news agency as saying that “Algeria people and government stand with the brotherly Libyan people.”

Mr Ould Kablia has paid a work visit to Libya where he has attended the regional ministerial conference on border security.

“Algeria is committed to assist Libya in all levels, including in terms of military, police and fire fighting trainings,” Mr Ould Kablia told the conference, adding that the countries of the region have been working for long time in bid to secure and manage borders.”

The official specified that “unlike borders with Niger and Mali, where periodic meetings have been held to examine the issue; the border  with Libya witness a new situation, following changes that occurred there,” adding that “the movement of people is not controlled enough on that area, which caused a mismanagement of the security situation, including arm trafficking.”

He said that al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM) has taken profit of such situation to get modern weapons, although Algerian security forces have managed to anticipate several trafficking attempts.
