Algeria Council of State brings FLN internal conflict to starting point

The Council of the State Wednesday banned a permission granted by the Algerian interior ministry to Ahmed Bomahdi’s group to hold FLN Central Committee session on Thursday at Al-Aurassi hotel in Algiers.

The conflict between the enemy brothers was legal par excellence and was turned from political dispute into a legal battle in the Council of the State. While the session was about to be held at Al-Aurassi hotel, the Council accepted an appeal introduced by Abdul Rahman Belayat, one of FLN’s veterans  who was against holding another session of the Central Committee.

Echorouk has learnt that Boumahdi’s wing did not attend the session and was against the Council’s decision amid large debate between the two wings.

Member of the Committee Mohamed Bourzam said it is impossible to change the decision.

“Justice was for Beyata and the FLN’s former leader Abdelaziz Belkhadem is behind the current situation,” he told Echorouk.

“In the next 10 days, a request for a permission to hold the Central Committee session,” he added.

Earlier, Belayat submitted a request for a permission to hold a parallel session of the Committee with the same agenda in Al-Ryadh hotel. Yet, the interior ministry did not grant him the permission.

Belayat announced he would hold a press conference on Thursday at the FLN’s central headoffice while Boumahdi’s wing is waiting for the Council of the State to decide in its appeal.
