–Algeria didn’t waver to condemn the failed coup against Pt Erdogan-

The Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Ramtane Lamamra, said Thursday in Algiers that “condemnation” of coups and access to power through unconstitutional methods for Algeria is a principle that applies to all countries.

To a question on the attempted coup d’Etat in Turkey, Lamamra said that the “condemnation of coups is a principle for Algeria”, pointing out that in Africa, the Algiers summit of 1999 enshrined the condemnation of access to power by unconstitutional methods, and consequently, he said, Algeria is the precursor of this principle that it scrupulously applies across the African continent. “

For the head of the Algerian diplomacy, “Algeria considers this principle as fundamental to democracy that applies to all States whether Turkey or any other country.”

The President of the Republic Abdelaziz Bouteflika, expressed in a message to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the firm condemnation by Algeria of Turkey’s foiled coup reiterating the entire solidarity and total support of Algeria in these “painful circumstances”.

“It is with great relief that I welcomed the outcome of the security crisis witnessed by your brotherly country, thanks to the mobilization of its forces gathered around your person,” affirmed the Head of ‘State in his message.

In a related context, Turkey is said to have summoned its Military Attaché to Algeria Mr Shamsuddin Aray for inquiry in the aftermath of the failed coup attempt on Friday, sources revealed.

A local media outlet reported yesterday that Turkey’s military attaché in the country, who was in Europe during the attempted coup, has answered the call.

“Turkish military attaché has tendencies towards wanted Fethullah Gulen who the Turkish authorities accuse of being behind the failed coup,” the sources said.

The newspaper expected the Algerian authorities to cooperate with the Turkish authorities in the inquiry into the coup attempt, especially after Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika stressed his firm support for his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan during these “painful times”.
