Algeria Embassy in Tripoli subject to “violent actsâ€
The Embassy of Algeria in Tripoli has been subject to violent acts in the night of Sunday to Monday, causing damage to several vehicles pertaining to the diplomatic mission, Foreign Ministry said on Monday.
The APS news agency has quoted spokesman for the Foreign Ministry, as saying that Foreign Minister Mourad Medelci has sent an “urgent” message to the SG of the UN in order to “inform him about violent acts perpetuated against Algeria Embassy in Libya, and urged him to take necessary measures through the UN system, in order to assure the safety of the diplomats and offices of the Algerian mission in addition to its properties there, in conformity with international law.”
The official further added that the following up cell is permanently keeping in touch with Algeria diplomatic representatives in Tripoli, in order to be reassured over their safety and that of Algerian nationals who preferred staying in Libya.
