Algeria exports 61 billion ZDZ of pasta products

Algeria has recently reached an important stage in the field of food production especially Pasta, after opening a lot of national companies in the industry and the production of pasta and exporting them to abroad, as the financial envelope obtained from exporting pasta food for the year 2012 to 11 countries reached more than 61.4 billion centimes, equal to $7.93 million for 11.3 thousand tons, and the total amount of exporting couscous alone reached 10.99 billion centimes on about 2051 tons.

During the first five months of 2013, Algeria expands the countries for which it exports pasta to include Egypt and Luxembourg, Britain, Libya, China, Belgium, France, Spain, and Canada, as the financial envelope obtained from the export of pasta food reached during this years’ first five months to 38.95 billion centimes, representing 6935.88 tones, of which 841.66 tons are couscous with a financial amount that exceeds 4.97 billion centimes.
 
Despite efforts to provide self-sufficiency in the industry of pasta food, but Algeria pays annually 58.63 billion centimes to import 6287 tons, from Tunisia at the forefront of Pasta Exporting Countries to Algeria, as during 2012, it exported more than 3562 tons of pasta.

During the first five months of the current year, Algeria spends 23.1 billion centimes to import 1914 tons of pasta food, including 34.6 million to import couscous from China and France, and last year it imported 2.6 tons with 39.7 million centimes.
