Algeria / Families desperately waiting for delivery of dead bodies for burial at the El Alia mortuary.

The square adjoining the services of the mortuary of the El Alia cemetery, on the eastern outskirts of Algiers, was Wednesday crammed with mournful parents and close relatives of those victims who were killed in the cowardly terrorist attack perpetrated earlier this week against a Gendarmerie high school in the town of Les Issers in eastern Boumerdes province.

• These mournful parents have been waiting for more than 24 hours in appalling conditions to recover the bodies of their next of kin for burial but they have been confronted with hurdles and administrative constraints by certain over – zealous elements in charge of the services at the El Alia mortuary.

•  Most of them were left on the lurch and helpless.

• The victims’ families were in a very depressed mood and voiced their bitter discontent and anger, coupled with deep anguish, at such a blameworthy attitude, stressing that no official representative of the government was sent to the Al Alia mortuary with the aim of taking in charge their concerns and grievances on the spot.
