Algeria-France partnership: mutual interests
Partnership between Algeria and France appears on the rise as operators are expressing their will to reinforce cooperation following the launching of the 150-billion-dollar five-year economic development plan.

With a $1 billion-turnover, Algeria’s Société nationale d’assurance (SAA) and French group Macif have working together since an agreement was signed in April 2008.

In a meeting between Medef (Movement of French Enterprises Patrons) and Forum of Chiefs of enterprises (FCE) in Algiers, SAA’s CEO Amara Latrous said Monday the partnership agreement is meant to share and exchange know-how and training, improve companies organisation and develop repatriation insurance.

Cooperation between Total and Algeria’s energy state-owned group Sonatrach is seen in a $5-billion-agreement. According to a representative of Total who attended the meeting, the project of Arzew’s petrochemical complex west of Algiers is meant to continue developing petrochemistry and valorise ethane in the petrochemical sector. Contracts signed between the two companies are of 20 years duration.
