Echorouk reporters have noted during a tour of several markets in several districts of Algiers a gradual slump in the prices of foodstuffs, fruits and vegetables in comparison with the first days of the holy month of fasting of Ramadhan.

A local trader told Echorouk reporters on the spot that the prices of fruits for instance varied according to the seasons.

He said, to this effect, that a slight price-hike would certainly be recorded at the opening of the upcoming autumn season.

Earlier this week, the trade Minister explained the sudden price hike, registered at the onset of the month of Ramadhan, by the surge in demand.

He also lashed out on the occasion against those venal traders who indulge in frenzied speculation practises especially during the holy month of Ramadhan.
