Algeria / Heavy agenda in store for President Bouteflika against a backdrop of 2009 Presidential polls.

The new social year, which is to open in a few days from now, is expected to be intense and full of activity notably for the cabinet members who will have to present an exhaustive report on the performances achieved by their respective ministerial departments to the Head of State Abdellaziz Bouteflika who is to wind up her second term in office early next year.

• Various major files including the preparation of the next presidential elections, scheduled for April 2009, and the revision of the country’s constitution will be high on the agenda of the Head of State and his close collaborators.
• Contrary to the government members who took a vacation period, Prtesident Bouteflika had no rest this summer and made several working visits of inspection on the ground, notably to the provinces of Algiers, Tizi Ouzou and Bouira to officially inaugurate or give the kick – off  to a number of major socio – economic and cultural achievements.
