Algeria Mali World Cup Qualifier Clash May Be Delocalized Over Coup

The Algeria Mali clash ahead of the qualification for the World Cup of 2014, for 12 June in the capital Bamako would likely be delocalized to a third country, in case the situation in the coup-hit Western African nation had not improved, official in charge of international competitions at the Mali Football Federation, Souleymane Diallo, said Saturday.“In case the socio-political had not improved, Algeria Mali game would obviously be delocalized to another country, to ensure security,” Souleymane Diallo told the Algerian radio.“We are not at that stage yet, given that we are two months away from the game,” he noted.A group of low-ranking soldiers on Thursday overthrew President Amadou Toumani Toure, maintaining that the take-over was sparked by the government’s inability to deal with a Tuareg-led insurrection in the north. “I’d like to reassure our friends in Algeria that nothing would be left for chance, as they are to be warmly welcomed in Bamako, in case the game was maintained in Mali,” Mr Diallo added.Algeria and Mali are in Group H, together with Rwanda and Benin. The Greens start the qualifications for the World Cup by hosting Rwanda between 1 and 5 June, before playing against Mali in 12 June.
