Algeria on the verge of medicine crisis
Algeria suffers from a shortage of birth control pills including Microval and Cerazette which are very efficient for women after giving birth recently, said chief of chemists’ national union.

“Another list of medicines is absent in Algeria including Adepal and Eval,” Messaouad Belamiri told Echorouk.

He believes that the Algerian market will face a real medicines crisis as importers and some medicine companies warned of coming shortage.

“The shortage will touch birth control pills, some eye medicines, ointments and other essential medicines for chronic diseases.”

The union’s chief also said birth control pills share in the medicines market is estimated at 5 percent and many women in Algeria use them instead of other means to control birth.
