Around 300 new towns which were built in Algeria in the last few years are not in conformity with accredited architectural criteria.

The Union of Experts and Architects counted around 1 million and 175 thousand non-achieved buildings in Algeria. New measures have been brought by a draft bill which parliamentary blocks called for banning its sanction-related clauses for those building owners.President of the Union of Experts and Architects, Abdelhamid Boudaoud told Echorouk Sunday that the government precipitated in issuing this draft without studying the general situation of non-achieved buildings in Algeria.

According to him, authorities are likely to face a difficulty in implementing the new measures of this decree which is opposed by PMs.

He added that sanctions were supposed to be issued against the administration and not people. “Construction permit is valid for three years but this procedure is not respected.”

“There are around 300 new towns which were built in Algeria in the last few years are not in conformity with accredited architectural criteria.”

“All areas which were constructed in our country between 1962 and 2005 were done without passing by legal measures on construction permits,” said the same source.

Previously, Algerian Housing Minister said if the draft law is passed it will be flexibly implemented.
