Algeria Post: Over 2.6 Million inactive accounts to be closed
Algeria Post alerted its customers that it will block all current postal accounts which contain less than 100 ZDZ for a certain time, starting from the coming 1st September, while the institution will close more than 2.6 million post accounts that are not active in accordance with the applicable procedures.
Algeria Post’s General Manager, Mohand Al Eid Mahloul, told Echorouk that every active account should contain at least 100 ZDZ as a tax mandatory on the continuation of the account code for the customer, while 150 ZDZ was identified for the accounts that are inactive for a period of 10 years to be canceled permanently.
“The procedure will go into effect starting from September, and this according to the Law No. 172/04 of 10 June 2004, and all customers with current accounts estimated at more than 16 million customers, are obliged to apply the new procedure”, he added.
In a related context, Algeria Post will close, according to the same official, to more than 2.6 million current accounts permanently in the near future, after the process of a careful monitoring of the activity of the accounts that show that the customers did not use their accounts for 15 years, starting from the year 1998, and this is in accordance with the provisions of Article 86 of law 03/2000, issued on August 5, 2000, which gives the institution the right to close the current accounts after 10 years of inactivity.
