Algeria / President Bouteflika hits out at trouble-makers and depredators and calls for the banishment of violence
The President of the Republic Abdelaziz Bouteflika has severely taken to task the trouble makers and the depredators stressing that the state will act with an iron hand against these nefarious individuals who breach the peace and destroy public and private property.

Taking the floor Saturday during a speech at the premises of the National Defence Ministry, in the presence of senior officers of the National Popular Army, the head of state and supreme chief of the armed forces underlined that these would be no leniency towards these runaway gangs of destruction who went on the rampage in the past few months in the streets of Algiers and Oran to vent their anger at their football squads’ defeats in national championship matches.

The Algerian state, he said, will act with utter firmness against such dangerous drifts in order to banish violence altogether in our country.

Furthermore, President Bouteflika said that the door of repentance is still wide open for those who want to shun terrorist violence and to reintegrate peacefully the Algerian society in the framework of the charter of peace and national reconciliation, which the head of state, described as an “irreversible option” that should be further consolidated, he stressed.
