Education independent unions criticized the education ministry for accusing them and giving their demands a “political aspect” rather than a “professional and social” one.

National Secretary in charge of information and communication at the National Union of Education and Training Workers Messaoud Amraoui said the ministry failed in solving the crisis as it accused unions of exercising politics following their four-week-unlimited strike.

“The Union’s guidelines are known to the civil society but it is not involved in politics. I defy anyone who can show a release where the Union supports a political party,” he told Echorouk.

He added that the Union’s members have different political visions but their demands are “totally professional” and they can not be involved in any political position neither will they support any party in the next elections due to be held in April.

National Secretary in charge of Information and Communication at the National Independent Council of High School Teachers Messaoud Boudiba said the ministry exercises politics by taking oppressive measures and inciting pupils against their teachers.

Chief of the National Independent Union of High School Teachers Meziane Meriane believes that the ministry accused the unions of exercising politics because it failed in meeting their demands.
