Algeria: “Release Of 76 Detainees Arrested During Popular Protest Marches”

Judicial authorities throughout the national territory released Thursday, 76 people arrested during the popular protest marches (“Hirak”), announced the Public Television Enterprise.

Moudjahid or war veteran Lakhdar Bouregàa and retired Army General Hocine Benhadid are among those released.

Among those set free are 51 from Algiers, 6 from Chlef, 4 from El Oued, 3 from Constantine, 2 from Tlemcen, 2 from Tipaza, 2 from El Tarf, 2 from Oran, one (1) from Tissemsilt and another one from Boumerdes.

Meanwhile, the Algerian League for the Defense of Human Rights and the Committee for the Defense of Prisoners of Conscience confirmed this information.
