Algeria Revolution Figure Mehri Passes Away
Former minister at the interim government of Algeria (1958-1962), Abdelhamid Mehri, passed away Monday at the age of 85.
The local APS news agency has reported that Mr Mehri died in the military hospital Mohamed Sghir Nekache military hospital, in the suburb of Ain Naadja, south east the capital Algiers. The deceased had been the Secretary General of the National Liberation Front (FLN) from 1988 to 1996. Abdelhamid Mehri was born in April 1926 in Constantine eastern province. He is an emblematic figure with the FLN in the fight against the French occupation.
