Algeria rules out any form of mediation in the conflict with Egypt

The Egyptian authorities have recently called on the Syrian side to play the role of mediator to diffuse the conflict that broke out between the two countries in the wake of the qualification of the Algeria squad over the Egyptian side in the final round of the qualifications to the World Cup that took place in Khartoum, Sudan, reliable sources revealed.
- But the same sources have indicated that the Syrian side have ruled out the Egyptian’s request because the Algerian authorities have overtly refused any form of mediation regardless of the mediator; arguing that it has no part in the conflict nor any problem with Egypt.
- The Egyptians will have to answer on their own for the barbarous assaults against the Algerian players and the heinous campaign unleashed against the Algerian people, history and symbols alike, it said.
- The Egyptian authorities have suffered a second blow after a first attempt to drag the Libyans then the Sudanese into the equation as part of their plan to circumvent the conflict and find an outlet to the crisis.
- The Algerian foreign affairs minister, Mourad Medelci has put it clear few days ago “there isn’t any mediation because relationships with our Egyptian brothers have never stopped”, cutting short the probability of the existence of any form of mediation with Egypt.
- For his part, the Arab League General Secretary, Amr Moussa has announced that this Union has called on the Libyan president Maamer Alkadhafi to play a mediator between the two countries to end the conflict.
- A press release has quoted the Sudanese president advisor Mustapha Othman Ismail saying that Omar Al Bachir has officially ordered him to start urgent contacts with the Algerian and Egyptian governments in a move to stop the “cold war” between the two countries. He overtly accused foreign parties, denying disclosing their names, of plotting to undermine the Arab and African relationships.
- The Emirates Football Association’s president Mohammed Khelfan Eremithi has this week sent an invitation to both the Algeria and Egypt squads to play a reconciliation match in this country, as a last ditch effort to stop the conflict.
