Algeria: Salaries: Public sector employees gets privileges by getting salaries way before due time.

Echorouk sources say the finance function at the Ministry of Education sent salaries to the department’s employees ten days before due time to enable workers getting their needs including the sheep with less financial pressure on their heads. The same education sector employees received their quarterly bonuses during the same period. The 140 thousands police department workers also received their salaries with the same time advantages. The Health department, which considered as being the second largest staff in the public sector, got the same privileges with employees enabled from withdrawing salary money from their accounts starting from today Thursday. The only sector that could not benefit from this favour was that of universities and higher education. It is worth recalling that the education sector was hit by a three day general strike in mid-November which resulted in salaries and compensation systems that enables the sector’s workers improve their income and helped the government control a situation that could have lasted long if all education trade unions’ requests were not met.Algeria is living a 24 months long series of salaries increases granted by the government afraid of any contagion coming from the winds of Arab Spring revolution feeling now prevailing in North African countries.
