The security apparatus across the national territory is to be strengthened in anticipation of New Year's celebrations with the all-out mobilization of about 150.000 gendarmes, police and customs agents.
- Reliable sources told Echorouk that a total of 70.000 gendarmes as well as 65.000 policemen and 10.000 customs agents would be on duty ahead of the end of year festivities.
- The same sources added that the security forces would be deployed in and around all entertainment places notably in the vicinity of hotels, restaurants, discotheques and other leisure spots in order to ward off any acts of aggression, scuffles or breaches to the public order by wrongdoers.
- The security device will be strictly monitored and enforced in all these much-frequented places as well as at all border-posts around the clock until the end of the New Year celebrations.
- Security measures will also be greatly reinforced in the southern part of the country notably in the splendiferous regions of the Hoggar and Tassili N’Ajer where a large number of foreign and Algerian tourists are expected to spend some holidays coinciding with the end of year celebrations, according to the same sources.
