Algeria security improved, says national police chief

Algeria’s national police chief Wednesday highlighted the smooth running of security coverage program in the country.

“Security situation is improving as you can see that,” Ali Tounsi told journalists.

“Those efforts come from our respect to citizens and our work to ensure safety wherever they are,” he added.

Speaking at a ceremony with police trainees, Tounsi said they must implement what they learnt and win people’s trust.

“Policemen should make people cooperating with them in the fight against crime.”

A total of 249 policemen have been trained in law, mathematic and other subjects for 9 months.

Earlier this month, Tounsi said Algeria is expected to train its judicial police in the fight against cyber-criminality.

A draft law is being elaborated to oblige Internet operators to provide assistance in counterterrorism operations.
