Algeria / Staggering expenses of 9 billion centimes for the construction of a new restaurant at the Parliament’s premises

According to au official document of which Echorouk got a copy, gross irregularities and glaring lapses have been recorded in the register of outlays and expenses at the level of the National Popular Assembly since the coming into office of its current chairman Abdellaziz Ziari.

• The relevant document, which has been drafted by the Assembly’s deputy speaker Amar Ouzani, shows clearly that the expenditures made, so far, are beyond  reason and are in total contradiction of the laws in force.
• In this “frenzy” of expenses we note, according to the document, the projected construction, at the parliament premises, of a new luxury restaurant for the benefit of the MP’s for the staggering sum of 9 billion centimes.
• And what is more irking is the fact that this astronomical project has been programmed without having the prior green light from the 2 houses of parliament in consistence with the legislation in force.
