Algeria Supplies Spain With 1.4 billion m2 of Gas Via Medgaz Pipeline

As many as 1.4 billion cubic meters of natural gas was carried to Spain via the Medgaz pipeline linking the port of Beni Saf, in the western province of Ain Temouchent, to the port of Almeria southern Spain, since 1 March.

 

The official in charge of the Medgaz project in Algeria has told the Minister of Energy and Mines, Youcef Yousfi, who conducted a work visit to the locality of Beni Saf, western the country, that the trans-Mediterranean pipeline carries an average of 8 million cubic meters of natural gas a day from the terminal of Beni Saf to Almeria. 

The Medgaz pipeline project has entered into service in March 2011. This pipeline is equipped with an electronic and online counting system, the official added. 

Medgaz official has explained to the minister the various procedures to be undertaken in case of accident or natural disasters.

Mr Yousefi should have visited also on Thursday a set of ongoing projects in Ain Temouchent, including the water desalination station of Sidi Ben Adda, the power plant of Terga, and the high voltage transformer station.
