Algerian foreign affairs ministry Wednesday summoned Moroccan ambassador to Algiers Abdelaziz Belkeziz in response to false allegations that Syrian refugees were driven out from the country. The ministry told the ambassador that Algeria totally rejects the “the baseless allegations.”

Three months ago, Moroccan authorities summoned the Algerian ambassador to Rabat as Syrian refugees were kicked out from their land to Algeria.

Moroccan media alleged that the refuges were driven out by Algeria.

Spokesman for the foreign ministry Amar Blani Wednesday said Morocco’s ambassador was summoned and received by Secretary General Nourredine Aouam. He told him the Algerian government rejects the baseless allegations indicated by Morocco about Syrian nationals.

“The Moroccan ambassador was told that Algeria does not need lessons from anyone when it is about caring about Syrian nationals. They are guests and Algerian people generously received them,” he added.

He also said Algeria is sorry for this new and unjustifiable attempt to raise tension.

The ministry’s Secretary General told the ambassador Algeria does its job properly as part of good neighboring although the number of immigrants from neighboring countries is on the raise as Morocco kick them out.
