Algeria to release biometric and electronic identity card

Algeria’s interior minister Nourredine Badaoui Wednesday make a presentation about biometric and electronic national identity card. A secured card model will be released to offer multiple services including transport, health and education.

The minister showed the project strategic importance. He evoked the 2005’s administration reform and modernization project. In 2012, the biometric passport was adopted.

The biometric and electronic national identity card includes a national identification number and a registration number. It valid for 10 years. It will also include an electronic signature.

Badoui also talked about the project positive points in terms of modernized aspect.

He said the project aims at turning identity card functions from paper into electronic aspect. It will enable Algeria to use modern means to secure people’s identity.

The new card is based on high security mechanisms in checking information veracity. Public services will be digital and can be used by people, public and private administrations on the Internet.
