Algeria : trade ministry regulates exportations market
Algerian trade minister Al Hachemi Djaaboub.

Algerian trade ministry removed some 198 pollution sources including ferrous, non ferrous, leather and cork-oak from the list of the exporters for not complying with the new laws enacted since last year.

  • This measure comes as part of a large scale operation launched by the ministry against these operators following the scandal revealed by the Algerian customs during the former general manager era, Sid Ali Lebib, which involved several customs officers alongside economic operators who were declaring new spare parts, motor engines, and other commodities as shoddy products, causing billions of losses to the treasury.
  • In this respect, the trade minister Al Hachemi Djaaboub declared that his ministry renewed 27 permits out of 225 requests for the exportation of these products after many years of ban.
  • Algiers takes the lead with 15 operators followed by Oran with 5, three exporters in Boumerdes, and Djidjel and att last one in the region of Batna.
