According to reliable sources, the calm came after some people had intervened and talked to supporters urging them to be reasonable.
-
A total of 82 suspects were jailed and 105 including minors were released pending for investigation. At least 20 of them are accused of setting fire on purpose causing considerable losses.
-
Special troops for intervention have been put in banks, post offices and municipal administrative departments for any possible emergency.
-
French and Spanish consulates have also been put under tightened surveillance for fears of protestors while civil society was the biggest no show in those events.
-
The Algerian League of Human Rights warned of misunderstanding the events and linking it to a match score only. “Residents’ social situation is in difficult period,” it said.
-
Security Provincial Assembly withdrew the curfew decision but called for maintaining alert state for a non-defined deadline.
-
A group of people who did not reveal their identities posted a statement in which they said they were behind the collective anger during the first day of events to express their sadness on their football club.
-
The statement said they were surprised by unknown people who mobilised them to damage certain places.
