Algeria’s car imports up by 33.6% since the beginning of 2011

Algeria imported 176,901 vehicles in the first half of 2011, against 132.351 during the same period in 2010, i.e. up by 33.66%, said Wednesday the National Customs Centre of Information and Statistics (NCCIS).

Vehicle import bill totaled DZD165.16 billion in the first six months of 2011, against US$132.2 billion in H1 2010, the NCCIS added.

 

The forty Car dealerships accredited in Algeria imported 164138 cars during the first six months of 2011 with an increase of 66.34%, equivalent to 43.117 b DA in the same period of 2010.

 

Imports of cars also noticed a rise by private companies with 21.98%, 12763 cars during the first semester of 2011 for 10463 units during the same period of 2010.

 

In terms of financial value, the NCCIS showed that the amount of purchases by private companies also rose from 14.78 b DA to 17.27 b DA in the same period.
