Algerian associative movement in France plans to organize the first sea trip for 1,400 war veterans and people from second and third generations of immigrants, said the Algerian community’s representative Samir Chaabna.

The trip will start on July 4th from the International Port of Marseille heading for Algeria on Tarek Ben Ziad ship.

Passengers will be accompanied by State Secretary in charge of the National Community abroad, some personalities, associative movement representative, Algerian-born businessmen and politicians.

“This trip idea came as part of the celebration of Algeria’s 50th Independence Day and increasing requests among Algerians living in France to come back home and spend summer and the fasting month of Ramadan with family,” said Chaabna at the People’s National Assembly (APN).

He added that the Algerian war veterans’ ministry accepted to honor 100 Algerian war veterans living in France on the National Revolution Day on November 1st in Marseille, Lion, Lille and Strasbourg.

As part of rapprochement between the community and the homeland, annual 15-day-summer camps in Algeria will be organized for Algerian children living in different places in the world starting from August 15th.

This unprecedented initiative costs will be covered by the Algeria ferries. Passengers will pay 10 Euros as a symbolic price.

Ferries director Hassan Krayria said 10 places will be booked for each trip out of 174 annual journeys in favor of needy Algerians living abroad.
