Algerian Chief of Staff orders the eradication of terrorism by the end of the year

The Algerian Army Chief Of Staff Ahmed Gaid Salah has summoned the highest officers of the army and the different and the different commanders to eradicate the remnants of the terrorist groups.

• The order was issued on the sidelines of his visit to the eastern provinces during the last week of the holy month of Ramadan.

• Addressing the military officers he launched: Either you eliminate them or you’ll be. This coded message carries a lot of meanings in the military language, winding his inspection visits by focussing on the necessity to eradicate terrorism in Algeria by the end of the year because the ambitious five year plan initiated by the Algerian president Abdelaziz  Bouteflika requires stability to succeed.

• The instructions given by the Chief of Staff come after the meeting chaired by the president, in his quality as the Defence Minister, with the different security bodies during the holy month of Ramadan.

• The all-out offensive carried out by the security forces against the terrorist strongholds was crowned by the killing of more than 60 and the arrest of others so far, apart from the rendition of no less than 20 terrorists all over the country.

• These successful operations wound up with the killing of outstanding terrorist leaders among the Salafit Group for Call and Combat including Abdelmoumen Rachid known as “ Houdheifa Abu Younes” who masterminded the attacks over the UN premises and the Constitutional Council in upper Algiers in September 2007.
