Algerian companies acquire luxurious cars under the cover of investments

Algerian finance minister Karim Djoudi ordered his department to reconsider the provision that exonerates some imported goods from taxes on the basis that they are included within the companies’ investments.

• A report sent by the taxes department to the relevant ministry revealed that some luxiourous products were exempt from tax duties including four-wheel drive cars, furniture and household electrical appliances.
• These services raised a series of suggestions to the minister with a view view to strengthening control and averting tax evasion.
• Taxes departments are working on a new system of control to replace the old one deemed as inefficient and full of flaws used by private and national companies to acquire side products without paying taxes.
