Algerian customs register 300 cases economic crimes in 2012
The criminal court of Algiers will pronounce as of next week on 250 cases related to corruption that involved more than 1200 individuals and caused the public treasury a loss worth billions of Dinars.

A judicial source has revealed to Echourouk that the treated cases count among the most dangerous affairs so far as it involved more than 1500 individuals and caused staggering financial damage to the government.

Among them that one that involved 12 customs officers and 5 economic operators that dilapidated 3 thousand billion Dinars in shady operations related to the export of ferrous and non ferrous wastes to France

Security services have, in this respect, treated more than 300 affairs over the first quarter of this year all of them linked to corruption and money embezzlement including 40 cases regarded as extremely serious where 500 individuals were involved among them foreigners.

Figures reveal that the number of affairs linked to corruption has reached more than 5 thousands over the last five years that involved 60 thousand individuals and caused billions of Dinars to the treasury.

2010 was the year of all records with more than 3 thousand cases involving 7 thousand individuals including 800 foreigners, the same sources indicated.

As to the provinces were the highest number of cases was registered, Algiers comes in the first position with 80% of the total number while Oran, Annaba and Sid Bellabes counts 10% of the overall case and 10% goes to the other regions in the country.
