Algerian Fans to raise Palestinian flags in South Africa: Gaza will be the title of an Algerian-Israeli war during the World Cup

All media and political reports unanimously agreed that Israel’s recent piracy on Gaza aid flotilla killed people and did not win, and those who have forgotten the people of Gaza were reminded after these events.

 

• All international sports, economic and cultural events turned and will turn to solidarity with Gaza, including World Cup competition, as Algeria will participate as a the only Muslim country out of 32 teams, in the absence of Iran , Turkey and the rest of Arab countries which used to participate in this event such as Saudi Arabia and the Maghreb countries.

• Travel agencies that will transfer Algerian fans to South Africa or Pasteur Institute which is sponsoring currently vaccination of fans for protection from various diseases asked them about the atmosphere they will create in South Africa and they said that Gaza will be in their hearts and Palestine flag will be raised will Algeria flag.

• The world noticed the presence of Palestinian flag and read the word Gaza in all stadiums up to the finals that will be attended by many Algerian supporters, as the phenomenon of raising Algerian and Palestinian flags, and n Israeli flag, at the European finals and cups developed quickly.

• Algerian fans, considered as a new phenomenon in world stadiums decided to raise the Palestinian flag which is present in every match of Olympic Marseille, Olympic Lyon and Real Madrid, as we also saw it in the last friendly match between Algeria and Ireland. Jewish Societies in France and Spain, including the Assembly of Spanish Jews, called for banning flags that have no relation with competition, on all fans without exception, although Israelis exploit all occasions in order to raise their flag, as was the case in a match between FC Barcelona and Inter Milano in the semi-finals of the European Champions League, as Jews were among fans who supported the Catalan club with their flags.

• This was a response to the Palestinian flag, which flutters in the Spanish Classico between Real Madrid and Barcelona and in the European League semi finals between Liverpool and Atletico Madrid, on the pretext of the presence of an Israeli player in Liverpool and who scored the second goal.

• We cannot forget what Ghana’s player did in the last World Cup, when he raised the Jewish flag after scoring for his team against the Czech team.

• Spanish newspapers including “El Pais” have pointed to the serious situation that can contribute to a war between fans and set off violence in the Spanish stadiums. However, nothing happened since many years, as the newspaper asserted that mixing sport with politics is totally rejected in Spain, where Basques are prevented from raising their flags, as is the case with Atletico Bilbao and Real Sociedad, let alone lifting the flags of other countries.

• It is well known that Algerian and Palestinian flags, which were lifted by Algerian hands, created in all the World stadiums a new phenomenon, as it accompanied Algerian players who play in European clubs such as Ghezzal, Metmour and Bougherra.

• However, this phenomenon exists not only in matches where Algerian players, as we learned that Algerian community in South Africa, which is approximately one thousand, is currently completing a giant flag to be lifted in the opening ceremony and also during the final match, let alone during Algeria’s team matches.

• If the Israelis have returned to raise their flags, after the seventies during Ajax matches, which was a large club in Europe during the Arab-Israeli war, it is clear that they are responding on what Algerians did in the European stadiums through lifting Palestinian flags.

• While absence of Israel from Participating in the World Cup would declare a war between Algerians and Israelis, as the result would be in the favour of Algerians, who were part of Gaza Freedom Flotilla.
