According to a report issued by the national forestry department, hundreds of hectares of lands belonging to the western province of Tipaza , have been diverted for personal purposes by several former Ministers, industrialists, business leaders, entrepreneurs and their next of kin.

The report says that the diversion through devious means of these national forestry lands had served for the construction of tourist facilities and factories.

The diverted lands are located in the areas of Gouraya, Hadjout and Kolea in Tipaza province, about 60 km on the western coast of Algiers .

The people involved in such blameworthy and lawless acts do not even reside in these localities and have taken over these lands through undeserved favours, falsely arguing that that the lands at issue were destined solely to agricultural purposes, says the report.
