Algerian government vows to eliminate forged spare parts after November 2.
The Algerian trade minister Al Hechemei Djaaboub has asserted that Sunday November 2, will mark the end of the commercialization of the counterfeit spare parts. The decision comes as part of the authorities’ plan to regulate the international trade and protect the Algerian consumers.

The minister has asserted that the government is resilient to wage a “war” against counterfeited goods starting from spare parts; and called on the customs services to beef up controls at the borders and the airports over imported products in order to track their identities and the countries where they were made.

Al Hechemi Djaaboub has indicated that his services have set up a series of procedures likely to eliminate the counterfeited spare parts from the market adding” the importers have to forward a document issued by the main company stating that the spare parts are genuine ones.

The minister went on saying that the government’s move was prompted by the danger caused by these counterfeited spare parts especially that estimates revealed that 80% of traffic accidents were caused by the counterfeited spare parts commercialized on the market.

On the other hand, he complimented the control services for seizing a boat carrying sportswear bearing the German brand “Puma”, days after the signature of contract between this company and the Algerian Football Association as part of a sponsorship operation.
