Algerian Human Rights’ League Chairman: “ We won’t give up the March of February 12â€
The chairman of the Algerian Human Rights League, Mustapha Bouchachi has reaffirmed his intent to stage a march in Algiers on February 12, noting that the unexpected president’s decision, who asked the government to prepare a law for the lifting up of the state of emergency at earliest, will not change anything.
- M Bouchachi has declared to Echourok that “ the March of February 12 is designed to put an end to the pseudo- democracy and move to the real one” , adding “ the decision to lift the state of emergency at this specific period of time was fortuitous, since the president’s move comes as a reaction to the recent popular uprisings that rocked several parts of the country and the some countries in the Arab world alike”.
- The lawyer considers that the Algerian people’s expectations go beyond the lifting up of the state of emergency to extend to the demand for democracy and descent life, raising an interrogation “ whether the move is really designed to achieve a real democracy, or rather a scheme to gain time as long as possible? ”.
- Nevertheless, the interlocutor has the president’s move to lift the state of emergency “ One has to admit that the president’s decision is a positive step”, he said.
