Algeria’s Islamist parties have firmly criticized the decision by the Egyptian authorities to classify the Muslim brotherhood movement as a terrorist organization, stressing that their relationship with the brotherhood will remain standing, as declared notably by Islamist leaders, Abderrazak Makri and Djaballah.

They urged that Algerian authorities not to follow suit the Egyptian government’s questionable move, saying this would dent the country’s sovereignty.

They surmised that there had been a convergence of the official stands  between Algerian and Egyptian governments , after the fall of the Morsi regime, and especially in the wake of the visit of Egyptian Deputy Foreign Minister Naser Kamal to Algeria, in preparation for the visit by Egyptian Foreign Minister Nabil Fahmi to Algeria shortly.

The two sides will be streamlining and coordinating during their upcoming encounter their views on several outstanding files including those related to the security aspect, according to knowledgeable sources.

In their concerted reaction, a host of Algerian Islamist parties have pledged to continue to deal with the Egypt’s Brotherhood as a legitimate movement stressing that it was illogical  that a popularly-elected movement which won last year’s polls in Egypt through the universal suffrage be turned abruptly into a terrorist group through a sheer governmental decision.

The leader of the Front for change Abdelmadjid Menasra said for his part that the situation is complicated and fuzzy in Egypt: “and our advice is to take a lesson from what has happened in Algeria, and to engage seriously in the setting up of an all-inclusive dialogue so as to reach a bona-fide political solution, away from the clashes and violence as part of an overall democratic consensus in the interest of the Egyptian people as a whole.”
