Algerian Passengers Trapped in Algiers , Europe
Air Algeria was due to cancel the majority of its international and domestic flights due to heavy snowfall and severe weather, leaving many Algerian passengers trapped in local and European airports.
An official at the International Airport of Algiers told Belkacem Aouadj of Echorouk that “17 flights have been cancelled, including four flights to Madrid, London, Rome and Orly, while the rest are domestic flights towards the eastern provinces.”
Meanwhile, spokeswoman for Air Algerie, Mounia Bertouche, stated that “The totality of 30 trips from Algiers have been cancelled for a later schedule.” As for the protest of trapped passengers in Algiers Airport, the airline official said “The bad weather came suddenly, and we could only notify the passengers about the cancellation of the trips only at 11am of Saturday.”
However, an official at Air Algerie reassured the trapped passengers that they will be carried on other flights as soon as weather is improved.
