Algerians patients who obtained medical appointments for intractable surgery operations in some foreign countries, are facing large problems in moving to these countries, after it becomes impossible for them to pay the treatment or the cost of operations, due to the high prices of hard currency exchange rate, the euro, which exceeded 18,000 ZDZ for 100 Euros.

Some patients told Echorouk that they prepared all the administrative procedures for travelling, and sought in all directions in order to collect exorbitant amounts that are requested by foreign hospitals, but as days pass, they get surprised of the high prices of the euro exchange rate in the parallel market, which is the only way to change the national currency, in light of the absence of accredited exchange offices for currency in Algeria.
One of the patients said that he relied on benefactors and philanthropists, in order to collect a sum of money which is to estimated 400,000 ZDZ, in order to pay an intractable surgery costs in a French hospital, but when he tried to convert the amount that is collected in Dinars over the months, he was surprised that it represents only a small amount of hard currency, after the collapse of the Algerian dinar exchange and the increase of the euro exchange rate in a matter of a very short time. Which made his fate depend on the response of people to help him in order to complete the required amount.
Some patients who were unable to travel are exposed to serious health complications that may jeopardize the fate of their lives that remains outstanding, in the hope that the authorities will intervene to give medical files holders the preferential and exceptional procedures, to get hard currency from the banks, so that they could travel in order to undergo surgies in China or some European hospitals.
High price of the euro contributed to the rise in the price of the Tunisian dinar in the parallel market, where its price reached 7,400 Algerian dinars for 100 dinars. Which is unprecedented, according to currency traders, who confirmed that the influx of Algerians on the Tunisian territory for the purpose of treatment or the acquisition of certain medications, led to the rise of the European and Tunisian prices’ currencies, at a time when the Algerian dinar is noticing a decline in its value from time to time, in front of the other currencies, despite the warnings by experts in economic affairs since several months.
