Algerian ports sign contracts with UAE “Grandweld Dubai” for the acquisition of three vessels for rescue and marine research
Ports of Algiers, Arzew, and Skikda ports sign Tuesday several contracts with the UAE company « Grandweld » Dubai for the acquisition of three vessels intended for search and rescue operations in the seas, says General Manager of the Group of Mutual Benefit for the Ports, Badreddine Bouzouidja.

Same official said that the contracts exceeded 80 million Euros for the acquisition of three ships with the energy of carrying 130 tons oriented to cover all the Algerian coasts for a national interest of the maritime search and rescue.

« The acquisition of the three ships, under the supervision of the Ministry of Transport, will allow the three Algerian ports to contribute to the search and rescue operations in the seas in cooperation with the Coast Guards », Bouzouidja says.

Resutls of a study with the International Maritime Bureau allowed the preparation of a book of terms and the declaration of international tender to subscribe on several important workshops.

The three ships, estimated to 72 million Euros for each, will be delivered during 26 months for Skikda Port, 29 months for Arziew and 31 months for Algiers.

Grandweld Dubai, which is a branch of the Gulf Marine Maintenance and Offshore Service Company, was created in 1984 and is specialized in ship design, construction and repair.

The contracts will be funded, according to the same source, on the basis of an agreement signed between the Credit Populaire d’Algerie in order to obtain a loan on concessionary terms covering 85% of the amount of each contract.

Previously on June the company of conducting the contributions of ports and the Credit Populaire d’Algerie had signed an agreement about financing the ports’ investments.

Credit Populaire d’Algerie would provide for the program of prots’ investments, belonging to it and companies that were established in partnership with foreign investors.

Within the framework of these contracts signed between the three ports and the UAE company, a tender was launched to select a professional partner in order to contribute in the form of a partnership in assisting these insitutions through its new form (branch).

The professional partner will organize and prepare the operational methods in accordence with the rules and national or international conditions that will enable Algeria ensure an affective promotion of services in the field maritime search in rescue.

The General Manager of Algiers Port, Abdelhak Bouraoui, Arziew Port, west of Algeria, Noureddine Hedjioui, and Skikda Port, east of Algeria, Laidi Lemrabet, of the Algerian side, and the General Manager of Grandweld Dubai, Djamel Abki, of the UAE side, sign the three contracts.
