Algerians on hunger-strike in British jail over repatriation logjam
An Algerian migrant lady living in the United Kingdom has revealed on her arrival Monday at Senia Airport of Oran in Western Algeria that a group of Algerian nationals settled in Great Britain is observing a hunger-strike in prison after being refused repatriation back home in Algeria.
This Algerian woman met at Oran Airport by chance with the secretary of state in charge of the Algerian community settled overseas, Belkacem Sahli, to whom she gave all the details about these hapless young Algerians who have been on a hunger-strike for about 20 days now to press for their claims.
She also informed Mr Belkacem Salhi that these Algerian detainees were facing very harsh conditions in jail adding that they’d sent an urgent letter to the Algerian consular services in London but the latter had so far turned a deaf ear to their bitter complaints, she explained.
These Algerian detainees want to be repatriated to Algeria forthwith after serving their prison-sentence, she asserted.
