Algerians protest against tax to enter Tunisia
Hundreds of Algerian passengers in Oum Toboul crossing point heading for Tunisia expressed danger over a tax imposed by Tunisian authorities.
Passengers told Echorouk the 30 Tunisian dinar tax is a “heavy burden” as they pay 2,800 DZ each time while hundreds of Tunisian tourists enter Algeria without paying any dinar.
They believe that paying tax is unfair and call on Algerian authorities to intervene and stop this “blackmailing.”
Tens of private bus owners on Annaba-Tunis line asked for banning taxes and putting an end to ill-treatment exercised by some Tunisian guards.
About 5,500 Algerian travellers pass by Oum Toboul crossing point using their cars.
